Activities
The Allentown Diocese Catholic Committee on Scouting currently runs an excellent annual Boy Scout retreat that provides all Ad Altare Dei and Pope Pius XII candidates the opportunity to attend a retreat as required by their workbook. At this retreat, Boards of Review are also held for all candidates. Scouts who pass thier board receive their medals at a special service held in May.
It is also the goal of this committee to expand the activities offered to our Catrholic Scouts to include a Cub Scout Day of Recollection and a diocesan-wide Day of Service for all Catholic Scouts to participate in.
For the adults, several activites are being planned which include training classes for Cub Scout Religious Emblems Coordinators/Presentors and Ad Altare Dei and Pope Pius XII Conselors. These classes are currently run periodically, and have recently been added to the council's University of Scouting. A Scouters Development Workshop and an annual Recognition Dinner for adult award recipients and committee members are also in the plans.
